In the season finale of When Calls the heart, Jack and Elizabeth are together in a closed mine looking for his dog Rip. Rip doesn’t like thunder storms so if he can escape he hides in the mine. Jack and Elizabeth talk out their issues while in there. The way that Jack looks at Elizabeth is always so intense. His eyes always has the look of love in them when looking at her, even when he is angry with Elizabeth he looks at her with love. Continue reading →
Okay, I guess I should just admit that I am totally obsessed with the television show When Calls the Heart. I am not nearly obsessed, I am simply obsessed. The show started airing in January 2014. After twelve episodes season one ended. The show’s fans had to wait until April 2015 for season two to start. The executives at the Hallmark Channel took a long time to renew the show. I find that astounding given the huge fan base of WCTH, and the fact that the channel’s website was bombarded by fans requesting it be renewed. Another thing that I find astounding is that the executives then requested the writers to make changes. They requested costume changes and for the show to be less “gritty”. Some of the fans like the changes in season two, but it seems that most of us feel that it destroyed aspects of the show that helped to make it such a hit. I am all for doing updates where needed, but I also believe that if something is working really really well then you don’t mess with it. Continue reading →
It seems that Xenia is nearly obsessed with this show. I say nearly because I refuse to admit to total obsession. When Calls the Heart is simply one of the best shows I have seen in a very long time. It has a huge fan base on Facebook which I am now following, and the main discussion page is so active that it has been blowing up my smart phone as well as my Facebook all day long. The fan base call ourselves “Hearties”. Continue reading →
One of my all time favorite television shows growing up was The Dick VanDyke Show. This show came on every Wednesday night and I always looked forward to it. Continue reading →
I am not really into watching television.shows like these (except if Richard Armitage is in it). However, I have been hearing from so many of my friends about this show since it began in 2012. I was determined not to watch any of it because I did not want to get caught up in it.
Finally, curiosity got the better of me, but I did not want to start watching the show without first seeing it from the start, so I reactivated my Netflix account. I don’t recall if I already mentioned that I canceled my Netflix account over the summer., I have to admit that I was missing the joy of having so many movies, documentaries, and TV shows that I could choose from at my fingertips 24/7. I used Scandal as the excuse to reactivate my Netflix account, and began watching this TV series two weeks ago.
I LOVE it!
There is no way that I can talk about Scandal without first talking about Kerry Washington
In my humble opinion, Kerry is absolutely phenomenal as Olivia Pope. This is spot on casting!
Actress Gabrielle Union also auditioned for the role of Olivia Pope, and was being considered for the role.
I do like Gabrielle Union too, but I cannot imagine anyone besides Kerry in the role.
Anyway, Kerry Washington is so beautiful and stunning to look at. She actually reminds me of Diahann Carroll when she younger.
Kerry Washington has the same type of classic elegance that Diahann Carroll possesses.
A resounding round of applause goes to the wardrobe department. Olivia Pope is always classically dressed. Her clothes always comes up in discussions about Scandal. There is something very “Grace Kelly” about her wardrobe, and Kerry wears it all very well.
Kerry is such a great actress too. I’ve seen her in other productions, and I have always been impressed with her talent. She is definitely not just another very pretty face. On Scandal Kerry is very clear about who her character is and what her passions are.
I love that Olivia engages her gut instincts as well as her business acumen in solving her clients problems.
Olivia keeps it real, and knows when to be compassionate.
As a woman running her own company, Olivia is both feminine and a tough multitasking business woman. She is also quite sexy in a classy way.
In the above picture we have Kerry Washington posing with fellow cast-mate Tony Goldwyn.
In Scandal, Tony Goldwyn’s character is Fitzgerald “Fitz” Grant, who is the President of the United States. President Grant is married, but the love of his life is Olivia Pope. Tony Goldwyn was a great choice to play President Grant.
Now, you all know that I do not approve of extramarital affairs, but I totally understand why President Grant is is madly in love with Olivia. I don’t blame any man, married or single, for wanting Olivia.
Tony Goldwyn does an excellent job in this role. He is trying to be a good president, but he cannot give up his love for Olivia. Tony is quite convincing. He plays the totally besotted President Grant to a tee.
Olivia fell in love with the president. Every time they are in a room together you can see and feel the vibes between these two.
Tony Goldwyn is so good at showing that he is very attracted to Olivia.
Bellamy Young plays President Grant’s wife Melody “Mellie” Grant.
Mellie is more interested in being the nations first lady than being a loving wife to her husband.
Mellie is also cold and calculating. I am trying to figure out how the president and Mellie ever got together and then married in the first place. There is no chemistry between the two of them. They also do not share the same sense of what is important in life. The most important thing to Mellie seems to be that her husband is the president of the United States. While Fitz takes his position seriously and wants to be good president, he would walk away from it all to be with Olivia. Fitz is not a happy man except when he is with Olivia. She makes him come alive.
The rest of the supporting cast is superb and the scripts are outstanding. Sometimes I find the editing a bit choppy, but there is very little about Scandal that I can complain about.
Some of the episodes contain violent scenes at times, and you know I don’t like that.
Overall Scandal is a very engaging TV series. If you start watching it there is a very good chance that you will be pulled into it like I was.
Shonda Rhimes is the creator, screenwriter and producer of Scandal. Miss Rhimes is also the brains behind Grey’s Anatomy.
I have not been into a TV series this much since Dallas was on the air.
Are you a fan of Scandal?
