African American Children Recorded Throughout History

Thank God for the camera.  These pictures of black children throughout the ages in America are fascinating and beautiful.  Children are usually not concerned about “posing” or what they look like so the expressions on their faces tend to be more “true” than when adults pose for photos.  You can see the soul of the children behind their eyes.

These are black children who could pass for white.

Wow, those are some amazing photo’s! I love the one of the mom fixing the little girls hair and the baby in the pram with his leg up is adorable too:)

We just moved to South West Florida and I love seeing the African American families on Sundays all dressed up for church. The men will wear full 3 piece suits, hats and carry walking sticks, the women are always impeccable in dressers and jackets…even if it’s 95 degree’s outside! It’s so lovely to see people so dressed up when most people…such a rare sight these days.

Thank you for sharing these gorgeous images!

      Hi Victoria,

It warms my heart to know that you find these photos just as amazing as I do. Aren’t they precious??? It is difficult for me to pick a favorite. I do love the one of the baby in the pram with one leg up. Here where I live African Americans still dress to the nines for church. It is a lovely sight to see.
